Bonn, June 17, 2026 – The Association of Interim Management Professionals (AIMP) presented the new “AIMP DACH Market Study 2026” at its annual forum in Bonn. For over 20 years, the study has been regarded as one of the most important market analyses in the interim management industry in the German-speaking region, examining current developments from the perspectives of clients, providers/firms, and independent interim managers.
This year’s study is titled:
“Next Generation Interim Management – New Client Expectations. New Rules of the Game.”
The results show that the interim management market in the DACH region remains robust despite economic uncertainties and continues to become more professional. At the same time, market dynamics, client requirements, and competitive landscapes are changing noticeably.
Among the study’s key findings are:
- The market volume in the DACH region has risen to approximately 3.75 billion euros.
- Clients value interim managers in particular for their ability to execute, their integrity, and their professional expertise.
- 82% of the clients surveyed are convinced that interim managers can implement change processes more easily than permanent executives.
- Restructuring, transformation, and change projects currently dominate the market.
- The market is becoming increasingly segmented: Highly qualified specialists and clearly positioned
- interim managers are benefiting, while generalists are coming under greater pressure.
- Clients increasingly expect professional processes, rapid availability, and proven implementation expertise.
The study is based on a 360-degree approach and was conducted with the scientific guidance of Prof. Dr. Markus Lemberger (Munich University of Applied Management). The survey included 119 client companies, 19 interim service providers/firms, and 664 interim managers from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The results of the study were presented for the first time at the 20th AIMP Annual Forum on June 12 and 13, 2026, at the Kameha Grand Hotel in Bonn. There, interim managers, providers, firms, and company representatives discussed current developments, challenges, and prospects in the interim management market.
